Welcome to The Michigan History Foundation

With such sweeping changes taking place across the great state of Michigan today, it has never been so critical to preserve the stories of Michigan’s past; not only for what they can tell us about who we are, but because they can also lead us to what we can do.

In partnering with and on behalf of taxpayers, the Michigan History Foundation is the financial trustee of a daily effort to discover and document the personal histories of individuals, organizations and communities in our state and add them as the next chapter in Michigan’s life story.

Through programs, museums, archives, publications, web tools, exhibits and people all across our state, the Michigan History Foundation tells the story of Michigan to people of all ages.  Its public and private partnership is crucial for our state’s societal, educational, cultural and economic development.
