The mission of the Michigan History Foundation is to raise private funds for the preservation and interpretation of Michigan's history.
The Michigan History Foundation was established in 1999 by a group of visionary business, industry, civic and political leaders to raise private funds from donors interested in ensuring Michigan's rich history and culture are maintained to inspire generations today and in the future.
Today the mission of the foundation continues. We exist to present opportunities to provide the financial support needed to collect, preserve and interpret Michigan's past for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations. Our efforts are aimed at providing Michigan's citizens and visitors a view of those who've shaped our state, its people and culture, inspiring an enlighten and thoughtful citizenry.
The foundation's first major success was securing $1.3 million to complete the twentieth century exhibits at the state's museum, the Michigan Historical Museum. The foundation continues to raise private funds to support the museum system, archival, publications, historic preservation and heritage educational projects and programs.
The Michigan History Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 relies on tax deductible contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations as a way to support their mission.
