Michigan Historical Center
The Michigan Historical Center is the official steward of Michigan’s treasured heritage. The Center preserves and protects photographs, objects, historic sites, diaries, letters This includes all types of government records from state registered beer labels to records of legislative debates. Michigan Historical Commission
The Michigan Historical Commission has been the public arm of state history programs since 1913. It advises the director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment and approves Michigan Historical Markers.The governor appoints commission members to four-year terms.
Each year, the Michigan Historical Commission presents the Governor John B. Swainson Award to state and local government employees who do not work in the field of history but have made exceptional contributions to preserving and interpreting the stories of Michigan's past.

Michigan Historical Museum Docent Guild
The Docent Guild of the Michigan Historical Museum is one of innovation, deep volunteer involvement and shared caring for the treasures of our Michigan history. The docent program is an integral part of the Michigan Historical Museum system. Meet our honored volunteers.
